Roxburgh Gorge Trail Jet Boat (Cycle)Transfers
The Roxburgh Gorge Trail is fast becoming a must do for visitors to Central Otago offering some of the most diverse scenery in Central Otago. Cyclists start the Roxburgh Gorge Trail at Clyde or Alexandra and can cycle all the way to Lawrence via the stunning Clutha Gold Trail or visa versa.
Between Doctors Point (12 kms from Alexandra) and Shingle Creek (12kms from Roxburgh) there is a 13 km stretch of river where the trail has not been completed.
Our “Roxburgh Gorge Jet” runs a 40 minute Jet Boat Cycle transfer tour through this spectacular scenery. The trips start from Doctors Point or Shingle Creek Boat Jetty and offer a unique opportunity to explore these isolated reaches of the Mighty Clutha (Mata-Au) River and view some of New Zealand’s best examples of European and Chinese gold mining. The perspective of the Gorge from the water is even more spectacular than from the trail!

what we do
Bikes are loaded and secured onto the Jet Boat, guests are given a safety brief, issued with lifejackets and then board our superbly appointed Hamilton Jet Boat and depart with the skipper spinning yarns of days gone by. Starting with the discovery of gold in New Zealand, all the way through to gold mining during the depression, the skipper brings to life tales of endeavour and hardship.
On the Tour the guests will view the miners huts and rockshelters tucked away in the spectacular schist formations and will have plenty of opportunity to take in and photograph the stunning Central Otago scenery.
